New York Students Express Their Concerns

Welcome!

In March of 2008 college students from across the country united at the Impact Conference in Boston, MA. At the conference, New York Campus Compact, an organization aimed at promoting civic participation among young people via service-learning and democratic participation, asked students from across New York State what most concerns them regarding the present political and social climate. We noticed a trend and have developed the Great Eight - eight blogs created to promote discussion of those topics that are most important to New York students. New York undergraduates are devoting their energies to:

  • Equitable Health Care
  • Fighting Poverty and Hunger
  • Settling International Disputes and Crises
  • Lowering Higher Education Costs and Student Debt
  • Improving Education for Young People
  • Social Justice, Progressive Action and Service
  • Saving the Environment and Energy Sustainability
  • The 2008 Elections

This site aims to unite students to share their experiences, gripes, concerns and plans concerning the topics that most affect their community. By facilitating discussion, we also hope to also facilitate action. Please visit the events page of this site for events being coordinated by Student Voice on college campuses across New York State.

Help us to coordinate statewide college action so that we may amplify our voice and realize our goals. To do so you may suggest an event by emailing NYCC.StudentVoice@gmail.com, or you may become a Student Voice Liaison. Liaisons are instrumental to coordinating action on campuses across New York State.

If we work together we can realize the dream.
